ACEZINE-10

INDICATIONS

For use as a pre-anaesthetic medication and tranquilizer and for chemical restraint in horses, cattle, sheep and pigs.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Each ml contains: 10mg Acepromazine

MODE OF ACTION

Acepromazine is a central nervous system depressant with specific action on the medullary centre in the brain stem, and associated activity on the autonomic nervous system. The effect produces tranquilisation. Acepromazine also possesses anti-emtic, anti-convulsant, hypothemic hypotensive, anti-spasmodic and analgesic properties and has a marked potentiating effect on barbiturate anesthesia.

TOXICITY

LD50 mice 61.37mg/kg I.V.

130.50mg/kg sub.cut

Acepromazine has high potency at low dose rates.

Doses over 3mg/kg have been administered without untoward effect.

WITHHOLDING TIMES

Meat and milk: 7days from time of administration.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

By intramuscular or slow intravenous administration in the neck region.

Horses, cattle, Sheep and Pigs: 0.25ml to 0.5ml per 50kg bodyweight (0.05mg to 0.10mg/kg bodyweight)

Following Acepromazine premedication the amount of barbiturate needed to induce anesthesia is reduced by approximately one third.
