Kynoselen has no Withholding Time!

Back to vets page

Home

The flagship product Kynoselen, so long a mainstay in performance horses and dogs as well as an important adjunct to therapy in the downer cow is in stock with a slight change in formulation.

The change is the removal of the minor excipient heptaminol, which is now a prohibited substance in the racing industry.

The proven European formulation of 2,5, disodic AMP, Potassium Aspartate, Magnesium Asparate, Selenium and Cyanocobalamin has been registered with ACVMG and stock is now available in the country.

The unique combination of ingredients targets intracellularoxygenation,

particularly energy intensive cells such as those of skeletal and cardiac muscle.

While the new formulation has no withholding period for performance animals practitioners should be aware that stock already in the marketplace, containing heptaminol, must not be administered to performance horses within 72 hours prior to performance.

For greyhounds the time is longer and close to one week.

This stock is still fine for the major indication of post race recovery, for cattle use in the spring and for small animal use (post surgery etc.).

The packaging, although similar in livery, does have some clear differences and all stock will be clearly marked as to whether or not it contains heptaminol, so that there is no possibility of confusion for clients.

Greenies achieve VOHC seal of approval

A Full Edition

A new year is well underway and once again there is a lot happening.

A new rep in the Lower North Island, reformulation of Kynoselen without heptaminol and Greenies achieving

VOHC seal of approval are all big stories for us and so they are the features of this newsletter.

ACE inhibition being complementary to phosphate binding is the subject of an in depth article

as are data on off label usage and NSAID safety.

A light article on horses and a good complement of jokes round off a newsletter with a lot of good reading inside (said the editor modestly).
