Biofuels

Inside this issue:

A dry summer, high land prices, a high dollar and a long winter ahead should mean that farmers should not be too optimistic at the moment.

However the farming picture short term is looking reasonably good and even long term the picture is quite bright.

This is because the major driving factor in prices at the farm gate is the world commodities market.

The drought in Australia is getting some benefit for NZ exports remaining high. New Zealand has a significantly higher share of the dairy export trade than Australia, but despite this any

diminution in Australia’s output must be to New Zealand’s advantage.

This is only short term gain however and we certainly do not wish the harsh conditions to continue for the Neighbours.

Interestingly enough one of the brightest stars on the horizon for our primary producers is the worldwide demand for biofuels.

Despite our government supporting our own biofuel research it is highly unlikely that we can compete on a world stage with overseas producers, but here’s the rub: There are so many hectares of

already being devoted to biofuel production in both Europe and USA that vast amounts of their rural hinterlands are being converted.

The upshot is that, within a few short years, there could well be a sudden drop off in agrifeed production in some of the most populous regions of the planet creating a dramatic change to the world commodities market - and guess who is ideally placed to take advantage of this scenario?

Earlier in the year “The Book” was produced listing all Ethical prescription products in an easy to reference form and made available to all veterinarians.

Now, as a further service to practitioners the

liquid medication ready reckoner (details inside) has been produced.

A new product, even a new concept, is the new Scientific Cat Litter available only via veterinarians, as such a product should be.

Also there are articles inside on disinfection and also the role of liniments.

The last newsletter had some intensive pharmacology but pharmacology is more a vast extensive topic, as seen within.
