Indications:
For use as a pre-anaesthetic medication and tranquillizer in dogs and cats.
Active Ingredients:
Each ml contains: 2mg Acepromazine.
Mode of Action:
Acepromazine is a central nervous system depressant with specific action on the medullary centre in the brain stem, and associated activity on the autonomic nervous system. The effect produces tranquillisation.
Acepromazine also possesses anti-emetic, anti-convulsant, hypothermic, hypotensive and anti-spasmodic properties. It has a marked potentiating effect on a barbiturate anaesthesia.
Toxicity/Antidote:
LD50 mice 61.37mg/kg I.V.
130.50mg/kg sub. cut.
Noradrenaline should be given in cases of a marked fall in blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration:
By intramuscular or slow intravenous injection.
Dogs and cats 0.25ml to 0.5ml per 5kg body weight.
(0.1mg to 0.2mg per kg body weight.)
Following acepromazine premedication the amount of barbiturate needed to induce anaesthesia is reduced by approximately one third.
